Craft Ideas to Make With Garden Coloring Pages

Looking for a great way to spend rainy days this Spring?

Whether you're a teacher, parent, or just someone who enjoys a bit of creative time, these project ideas are perfect for crafters of all ages and abilities.

Transform our new coloring pages into unique, handmade pieces that display a love for all things nature!

    1. Flourishing Fables

Garden coloring sheets can be turned into beautiful storybooks and powerful tools in fostering a love for nature and storytelling.

Once the individual pages are colored, stack them and staple together along one edge.

On the back of each design, write a story, poem, or facts about nature.

Teachers can incorporate this project in their lesson plans to encourage creativity and independent work among middle school and high school kids.

    2. Garden Crown

This craft is perfect for small children to practice fine motor skills, which are essential in areas like physical therapy.

Cut a strip of construction paper long enough to wrap around a child’s head. This strip will form the base of the crown.

Make cuts along one edge of the strip to create a fringe that resembles blades of lush grass. Ensure the cuts are not too deep, or the “grass” won’t stand up.

Color various garden-themed items, like flowers, insects, and vegetables and cut them out carefully.

Glue the cutouts along the grassy fringe and around the band of the crown.

Wear your flower crown for Earth Day or Wildlife Week in April!

    3. Vegetable Kitchen Sign

This delightful craft is ideal for children who want to create a thoughtful gift for adults.

Use a gardening coloring page that features a variety of fruits and vegetables. Color and cut out different items like carrots, potatoes, and strawberries.

Take a piece of white poster board as the base for the sign. Arrange and glue the cutouts along the edges of the white poster board.

Use a colored marker, poster paint, or glitter pen to write, “Kitchen,” “Grandma’s Garden,” or any other name/message.

This kitchen sign not only makes a great gift for parents who love gardening but can also be a fun way to educate children about different fruits and vegetables.

    4. Album of Blooms

Incorporating garden coloring pages into a scrapbook is a wonderful way to preserve memories.

Color nature-themed designs and decide whether to use them in their entirety, or cut out specific shapes and elements to use as accents.

Use your doodles as an interesting background and layer your photos on top, or arrange your cut outs to add embellishments around your photos.

Add captions and vintage treasures like maps and pressed flowers alongside your colored pages.

    5. Petal Puppet Show

Creating a puppet show theater with garden coloring pages is an inventive and engaging way to encourage imaginative play.

Select a mix of large garden scenes for the backdrop and small, individual elements like flowers, butterflies, and garden animals for the puppets.

Once colored, take the larger garden scene pages and attach them to a large piece of cardboard. Create two folds on either side so that the backdrop is able to stand.

For the puppets, cut out the smaller colored elements and stick these cut-outs onto popsicle sticks to create easy-to-hold puppets.

Add additional decorations to the theater, like real leaves, artificial flowers, or fabric to create a more three-dimensional garden effect.

Stand your backdrop on the floor or on a table. Ensure it’s at a height where the puppeteers can comfortably stand or sit beside it.

Encourage children to invent their own garden-themed stories or reenact classic fables using their DIY theater.

    6. Garden Garland

Make a decorative garland to brighten up your home or classroom.

Use vibrant colors to complete the coloring sheets of flowers, leaves, and other garden-related items.

Trim the pages into triangles and use a hole puncher to create holes in the top two corners of each triangle.

Use garden jute to string the triangles together and hang your DIY bunting in your classroom to celebrate the New Year or as a charming addition to a garden party.

    7. Nature's Notebook

Creating a customized notebook using pdf coloring pages couldn’t be simpler!

Color intricate designs in different shades and cut out your favorite flowers, fruits, or insects.

Glue your cutouts onto the front cover of a notebook.

This journal is not only a great tool for distance learning in subject areas like social studies or physical science, but also a thoughtful gift for someone embarking on a nature-related journey or project.

    8. Potted Petals

Decorating flower pots with colored pages is a unique way to blend gardening with art.

Cut your colored pages to fit around each pot and glue them into place. Use acrylic spray to seal your artwork.

Have your budding gardener plant their favorite vegetable garden seedlings or herbs and watch their hard work come to life!

    9. Literary Leaves

Crafting bookmarks from colored pages is a great opportunity to spread your love of gardening and reading.

Complete your garden coloring sheet and cut into strips (2x6 inches).

Add real pressed flowers for a layered look and laminate your bookmarks.

Punch a hole in the top and attach a ribbon or jute. These printable bookmarks are an ideal for book club friends or your favorite teacher.

    10. Sunlit Scenes

Create the look of flower gardens inside with this easy window art idea.

Use markers to color your free garden coloring pages and tape them to windows and skylights where sunlight can shine through.

The vibrant colors create a beautiful effect, similar to stained glass, making these an excellent decoration for brightening up classrooms or kids' bedrooms during the depths of winter.

    11. Meadow Mural

Assembling a garden mural is an easy graphic arts project that fosters a vibrant sense of a community.

Arrange your colored garden-themed coloring pages on a large canvas or poster board.

Secure the designs in place with glue and layer writing, photos or drawings on top to complete an artistic collage.

This mural can be a collaborative display of visual arts in a classroom, library, or at a community event. Try inviting a local artist to contribute and inspire others for a truly special piece of artwork.

    12. Garden Greetings

A personalized greeting card made from a flower garden coloring page is a thoughtful way to celebrate a special occasion.

Print a coloring page at 50% scale, cut out a design, and glue it to an A4 piece of paper folded in half.

Enhance the colors of the flowers by adding glitter. Then, decorate the inside of the card with drawings/stickers.

These cards are perfect for special occasions like birthdays, celebrating good news, or Mother's Day, allowing your little gardener to share their art in a meaningful way.

    13. Fridge Flowers

Kids of all ages will enjoy making customized fridge magnets from their cute coloring pages.

Choose a free download and color it in using your favorite craft supplies. Cut out shapes, flowers, or leaves and glue them onto a piece of cardboard.

Attach magnets to the back and gift to a gardening enthusiast in your life.

    14. Harvest Table Runner

Craft a table runner from our free vegetable coloring pages for a creative and practical project.

Arrange the nature-themed coloring pages in a long strip and tape them together on the back. The number of pages you’ll need will depend on the length of your table.

Place baskets of coloring supplies on the table to give kids something to do while the food is cooking during special occasions like Thanksgiving or a spring brunch.

    15. Floral Recall

Create a memory game from printable coloring pages. This is an easy craft for students in kindergarten or 1st grade ,occupational therapy or just to enjoy at home on a rainy day.

Print two copies of each chosen design on cardstock at 20% scale.

After coloring, create matching pairs of garden elements and laminate them. Color the designs and ensure you have two to create pairs.

Place the cards face down on a table and mix them up. Play against friends and classmates to see who can find the matching pairs!
